In the breadth and depth of his experience, Carl Nyberg has seen the best and worst of humanity. Reflectively and poetically, he passes this on to you through this poem.
The Need For Revolution Will Be Televised
Capitalism killed empathy
Because feeling community
Impedes convincing people
To see people as commodities
Fred Hampton said,
“If you’re afraid of socialism
“You’re afraid of yourself”
And people who drink
Capitalism’s kool-aid
Know they should fear themselves
“I wouldn’t operate the gas chambers”
They say with confidence
But they fear the truth
“But I can watch genocide on TV”
Because capitalism kills empathy
